October 3rd: Cash for College
Family Night will take place Wednesday from 4:30 p.m. – 9 p.m. at the Los Angeles Convention Center, South Hall. This event is FREE and open to the public. This activity is optional, not mandatory. Students who attend are eligible for 2 hours of community service upon completion of college questionnaire which is located in the counseling office. The time to start planning for college starts in middle school and early high school. For more information, visit www.lacashforcollege.org.
October 5th: College T-Shirt/Sweatshirt Day
-Faculty/Staff and students are asked to wear college/university shirts. Students are only permitted to wear a college/university shirt in lieu of their uniform collar shirt and they must wear their solid gray bottoms. Teachers: During 2nd period, please dedicate 10-15 minutes to share your college experience. PHOTOS
October 12th: “Name That College” Scavenger Hunt
-During lunchtime in the covered eating and quad areas, students must guess the entire college/university name of the abbreviated signs posted throughout the designated areas (i.e. LMU: Loyola Marymount University). There are a total of twenty (20) abbreviations. Students can drop off completed answer sheets in the drop box located in the center of the quad. This is an individual activity, no teams allowed. October 19th: Door Decorating Contest
-Beginning the first week of October, all teachers are encouraged to decorate their door (s) with college/university pictures, posters, designs and etc. Doors will be judged on creativity, originality, amount of information provided, and visual appeal.
October 26th: College Fair
-During lunchtime in the quad area, several college/university representatives will display and distribute college/university information to Audubon Eagles!
